Robotics

Filled with anticipation, a team of students, faculty, and professional mentors gather each January for the live announcement of the next Robotics challenge. As a participating school in the FIRST Robotics Competition, the team has six weeks to design, build, and program a robot using a standard kit of parts - working within a strict common set of rules.

Science Teacher Brother Joe Wilkowski, FSC, helped bring the program to life at St. Joe's in 2014. The team won the Highest Rookie Seed Award at the first competition! Today, we are proud to be the only Catholic high school in WNY with a FIRST Robotics team currently.

All skill levels are welcome and needed on Team Alumiboti, technical or non-technical.  Supported by committed adult mentors, students on the team expand their skills in programming, electronics, mechanical engineering, publicity, communication, and more.

The hard work pays off at regional events. The unpredictability of the competition often results in incredible teamwork to solve problems on the fly – sharing ideas, helping others, and respecting teammates. Based on the experience, several of our graduates are now majoring in engineering at the college level.
