Immersion Trip
A team of nine St. Joe's students flew down to Homestead, Florida, for a Service Immersion Trip with the La Salle Educational Center.
The group volunteered at this new Lasallian school that serves children of migrant farm workers. Our students fostered meaningful connections with these young children through tutoring, prayer and fun activities.
The team is fully immersed in the Homestead community. They lived as neighbors to the Lasallian students in the South Dade migrant labor camp. Students learned about migration and immigration issues first-hand. They volunteered at a local farm share. They played basketball with high schoolers who lived in the neighborhood. They sat down and listened to elders who had been in the community for over 50 years. They attended a Spanish Mass at the local parish, St. Ann’s mission.
All of this was done with the support of the Brothers of the Christian Schools who live and teach in the Homestead community.
Two Outstanding Seniors
Congratulations to Jonathan Evans ’25 and Corey Herring ’25, who were recently recognized in the Rites of Passage Ceremony, a significant part of the Beautillion program led by the Buffalo Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
This distinguished organization plays a pivotal role in providing young African American men with mentorship, personal development opportunities and cultural enrichment experiences.
We are proud to have Jonathan and Corey representing St. Joe’s in this meaningful program.
Brotherhood Beyond Borders

Over the break, brothers Kieran ’16 and Aidean ’21 Deyell had the privilege of joining Ronan Cummings ’26 on a mission trip to Monte Cristo, El Salvador. Ronan described the trip as one centered around community, feeling a sense of belonging within the local culture, despite the distance and language barriers. Despite language barriers, Ronan found deep connections with the people he met, saying “Even without words, we laughed and played together, it was a reminder of how joy transcends language.” The trip strengthened the trio’s faith, pushed them outside their comfort zone and created lifelong memories.
