Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Finds New Home, Showcasing St. Joe’s Legends

John Boutet ’81 has spent the past 15 years as the Site and Exhibit Chairman for the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame (GBSHOF), playing a key role in preserving the legacy of Western New York’s sports history, including many Marauders who have left a lasting impact both on and off the field.

In 2018, the GBSHOF faced the challenge of relocating its extensive collection of memorabilia, which honors the region’s most iconic athletes and teams. After an exhaustive search for a new home, John and his team signed a ten-year agreement earlier this year with Dave and Adams Card World in Williamsville, N.Y. The new 2,000-square-foot exhibit opened in June and is now open seven days a week with free admission to anyone visiting the venue.

The exhibit features an impressive array of memorabilia from over 400 sports legends, including several legendary St. Joe’s alumni. Among the names showcased are:

  • Jimmy Collins, 1891
  • Dan Carnevale ’35
  • Bob Ivory ’47
  • Joe Wolf ’57
  • Dale Tepas ’67
  • Phil Scaffidi ’74
  • Billy Hurley ’75
  • Tom Terhaar ’87
  • Vaughn Parker ’89

These Marauders, alongside other sports icons like Super Bowl-winning tight end Rob Gronkowski, Stanley Cup-winning defenseman Brooks Orpik, and award-winning NFL media member Vic Carucci, continue to inspire the next generation of athletes. The GBSHOF has also been a strong supporter of amateur athletics, donating thousands of dollars to athletes and organizations over the past 30 years.
