Swing Choir

The St. Joe's Swing Choir is a mixed ensemble with men from SJCI and women from surrounding high schools. Our mission is built on the fundamental idea that we each possess God-given talents, and students are called to develop their abilities and give them away freely.

 

Many people think that we are a choir that dances or a dance group that sings. Truly, we are a group that ministers to anyone in need through music. We do not believe in competing 'against' others. Instead, we compete against a standard of excellence to push each member to be all that God calls them to be.

 

Each group member is imperative to the community; therefore, attendance is required at every rehearsal and concert. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9pm, with the addition of Sunday rehearsals from 1:30-4:30 pm as we approach our concert season in November. In addition, there are a few weeks in February and March that the group goes on a brief hiatus as many of the students participate in the St. Joe's spring musical. 

Schedule:
August- 3rd Week: Swing Choir Summer Boot Camp.
September- October: Regular T, Th rehearsals.
November- T, Th & Sunday rehearsals.
November- December- 6-10 Christmas Concerts on varying days (1 school-time concert per week).
January- Rehearsals & preparation for the annual Dessert Show fundraiser. 
Feb-March- No rehearsals during SJCI musical.
March-April- Rehearsals for annual Goodwill Tour to a select city.
May-June- Auditions (no more rehearsals)
