St. Joe's A-Team
Live & Unscripted
For many students, their first broadcast for a St. Joe’s game is the moment it all becomes real.
They step into the booth, put on a headset, and glance out at the field. When the camera light turns red, and the microphone goes live, the confidence they felt talking sports with friends and family disappears. There’s no time to pause, no second take. The game has started, and they have to find their voice.
This is the A-Team, St. Joe's broadcasting club, where students learn sports media by doing it live.
Founded in 2017 by St. Joe’s Vice President of Athletics Brian Anken, the club gives students hands-on experience producing and broadcasting varsity games, including play-by-play and color commentary to camera operation, graphics, and social media.
The goal is to give students a real pathway into sports media, and under the leadership of St. Joe's alum Vincent Christiano '18, it's grown into a program that consistently prepares graduates for college and careers in the field.
