The Faith Journey

Our Campus Ministry department provides students with meaningful opportunities to explore and grow in their faith. Each year, students participate in off-campus retreats with their classmates that foster reflection, connection and spiritual growth.

Throughout the school year, a variety of prayer services and liturgies invite the student body to come together as one, deepening their relationship with God and with one another.

Freshman Retreat

Brotherhood

The Freshman Retreat welcomes our students to embrace the community of Brotherhood. We go off campus to share a day of prayer, fun activities and small group conversations, all focused around this theme of Brotherhood - what does it mean to be a true brother? Students hear from St. Joe's alumni who come to share their experience of how the Brotherhood has shaped their faith and their lives.

Junior Retreat

Service

The Junior Retreat challenges students to grow as men of service and compassion. We visit St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, a local non-profit organization that ministers to and with some of the most underserved neighborhoods in Buffalo. Our students reflect on systemic issues of poverty while doing tasks to offer practical service for our brothers and sisters in need.

Kairos Retreat

"God's Time"

Kairos is a powerful three-day overnight retreat offered to juniors and seniors. Translated from Greek, Kairos means "God's time." Students go deep into the questions in their hearts, form lasting connections with peers and explore the riches of our faith tradition. Many of our students graduate saying that Kairos was the most meaningful experience of their lives.

"I first went on Kairos in February, and by the end, I truly felt the Lord reaching me through others. That inspired me to become a student leader, to help offer my peers the same powerful experience. The next time I attended, I felt the Lord working through me to reach others, forming deep connections with my St. Joe’s Brothers. Each retreat was powerful in its own unique way.

Kairos is more than just a spiritual journey; it’s also a chance to relax, have fun and be present. Whether journaling or walking along the shore, those unplugged moments meant a lot.
