Philanthropy in Action. Leadership with Purpose.
Inside the L
At St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, giving isn’t just something we talk about; it’s something our students do too. Inside the “L” is our student philanthropy group, grounded in Lasallian values of service and community. This year, members launched a grant-based initiative to support local Catholic elementary and middle schools.
By reviewing applications, discussing needs, and awarding funds, students stepped into the role of grantmakers, gaining real-world experience in charitable giving while living out the mission to serve others. Through this initiative, our young leaders are investing in the future of Catholic education and becoming compassionate, purpose-driven stewards of it.

The Torch Fund
The Torch Fund, a student-led grant initiative powered by Inside the “L,” gives St. Joe’s students the opportunity to directly support Catholic elementary and middle schools across Western New York. Through fundraising events like a fall chicken BBQ and a winter meat raffle.
