The people, students, faculty, staff, Board members, and alumni make it such a special place in which to teach, according to Brother Chris. He finds the support from all of these groups, combined with the brotherhood and camaraderie, to be palpable throughout the building. He believes those who attend and work at SJCI just seem genuinely happy to be here, creating a simply phenomenal atmosphere.
"Learning another language is not just about the vocabulary and grammar. It’s also about learning others’ cultures and how that impacts their communication and their thinking. Being open to others’ perceptions of the world and its occurrences is also important. Even if I don’t agree, I can still accept they have the right to their interpretation. SJCI is part of a global community, and we cannot allow language to be a barrier in communicating within our own international community."
