English Department
Freshmen and sophomores are introduced to some of the greatest works of literature, including novels, plays, short stories, and poetry, along with engaging contemporary works. The curriculum builds on the foundation of middle school and helps prepare our young men for the more challenging reading, writing, and critical thinking they’ll encounter throughout high school.
During their junior and senior years, students choose from more than 10 full-year electives. These courses reflect the interests and expertise of our faculty while giving students the chance to explore meaningful topics that connect literature to other areas of study.
Throughout all four years, courses in our English Department help students understand literature and culture from different perspectives while encouraging their growth as readers and writers.
