Learning with Purpose
An Experience That Delivers
At St. Joe’s, strong academics are rooted in purposeful learning. Students are encouraged to think through ideas and develop a strong understanding of the material so they can articulate their thoughts with confidence.
Across every course and department, students are challenged to expand their perspectives so they're prepared for life beyond graduation, not just the next test.
Our academic program seeks to develop students who think thoughtfully, critically, and curiously while building the skills and habits needed for success in college and eventually, in one's chosen career.

Course Levels & Opportunities
Students build a strong academic foundation while having the flexibility to challenge themselves in different ways. Most students take a mix of College Preparatory, Honors and (AP) courses based on their strengths and academic goals.
College Preparatory - This is the foundation of every student’s academic experience. Courses focus on building strong study habits and a solid understanding across all subject areas.
Honors - Our Honors courses challenge students with a faster pace and deeper exploration of the material, while encouraging greater ownership of their learning.
Advanced Placement (AP) - With over 20 AP courses, students take on college-level coursework that builds the skills expected in introductory college classes.

The Bell Schedule
We introduced our new bell schedule at the start of the 2024–2025 school year, grounded in research on how students learn best and what helps them thrive.
This type of schedule reflects the rhythm of a modern high school, helping students adjust to the expectations of managing time, moving between classes, and taking ownership of their learning. It’s one more way we prepare them for success in college and beyond.
The Academic Experience
Inside the Classroom
Our teachers bring their own energy, passions, and teaching styles to their work, giving each class its own personality. At the same time, students can count on being consistently challenged and supported.
Academic Rigor, Redefined
Here, rigor isn’t about more homework or taking every advanced course.
It’s about what students are asked to do with what they learn. Teachers push students to move beyond memorization to really understand what they’re learning.
That depth of understanding prepares students not just for college-level work, but for real conversations about the world around them.
Life Beyond the Classroom
What happens outside the classroom plays a big role in how students grow.
academic Support
Every student needs help at some point. What matters is that it’s noticed early and doesn’t go unchecked.
Student Life
Relationships matter here. The connections built throughout the day shape the experience just as much as the classes they take.
College counseling
Guidance starts early and builds over time, so students are prepared and confident when it’s time to make decisions.
