St. Joe’s Musicians Shine at Disney Festival

The Swing Choir and Jazz Lab Band from St. Joe’s recently embarked on an exciting journey to Disney World in Orlando, where they participated in the renowned Festival Disney. Surrounded by the magic of the parks and the energy of performers from across the country, both ensembles had the opportunity to showcase their talents on a professional stage. Performing for a panel of industry experts, the students received not only recognition for their hard work but also thoughtful feedback to help them continue growing as musicians.

For the Swing Choir, the experience went even further. They participated in a special workshop led by a member of Disney’s Voices of Liberty, where they learned and recorded a choral segment from Beauty and the Beast. This hands-on experience gave students a glimpse into the precision and artistry required at the professional level, leaving them inspired and motivated to refine their craft.

Beyond performance and learning, the trip also included a meaningful opportunity to give back. The Swing Choir shared their music at Give Kids the World, a unique resort that provides dream vacations to critically ill children and their families. Through their music, the students brought joy and comfort, making their trip about more than just personal achievement.

The Disney Festival Awards ceremony was a proud moment for St. Joe’s. The Swing Choir Band was recognized for its musicianship and excellence in accompanying, while several Jazz Lab Band soloists earned individual honors. Altogether, the trip was a powerful blend of performance, education, and service, an experience the students will carry with them long after the final note faded.
