Theatre ( Artists in Residence )

Our recent addition of a Black Box Theatre (Cullen Center for the Arts) has given us the room to develop a comprehensive Theatre program. Sophomores can take Introduction to Theatre as part of the school day and earn Regents Arts credit. Those who are interested in further developing acting talent can sign up for both Acting and Dancing classes taught by professionals in the field as part of our Artists in Residence program. Although offered outside the school day, these are credit-bearing courses that lead students to perform in various theatre venues both at St. Joe’s and in other local theatre programs. Our biggest production of the year is our Spring Musical. Recent productions have included Godspell, Les Miserables, Guys and Dolls, Grease, Children of Eden, and many others. Several of our students have gone on to study Theatre/Music in College and are now performing professionally.
