 African American Scholars at Notre Dame
July 5-9 2009

For: this seminar will offer outstanding young Catholic African American high school students the opportunity to explore the rich historical, political and spiritual legacy of  African American leadership and to enhance their own leadership abilities during one week on the Notre Dame campus

Latino Community Leadership Seminar at Notre Dame
July 12-18 2009
For:
The University of Notre Dame invites forty outstanding Latino students to participate in a stimulating leadership seminar the summer before their senior year. Through a series of presentations, discussions, and experiences this seminar will explore the role of Latinos in US society. Students will examine how their values and experiences interact with political, economic, and social realities to produce new avenues for effective Latino leadership. The seminar will develop a strong commitment to community service derived from the values of Latino culture and of the Catholic social tradition.

Global Issues Seminar at Notre Dame
July 19-26 2009
For:
Through a series of integrated themes and experiences, this seminar addresses the issue of whether - in an era of rapid globalization - peace and justice might be achieved, and how those who take Catholic social teaching seriously might plan a role in that process. The students will examine how the values we possess might interact with political, economic, and social realities to produce viable strategies in the future.  A particular emphasis this year will be placed on the prospects for Christian-Muslim dialogue and the challenges of living in a post 9-11 world.

Congressional Student Leadership Conference

For: Exploring business, medicine, law or government, traveling abroad or studying on a college campus and earning college credit.
Cost: depends on conference. approximately $200-$5000

United States Military Academy Summer Leaders Seminar 2009
May 30-June 5 or June 6-12
For: 
high school juniors interested in gaining a better understanding of the academic, physical, military, and leadership development programs at a service academy.  Students must be:
-in the top fifth of their class
-pursuing a college-preparatory curriculum
-have strong PSAT scores
-demonstrated leadership potential by participation, election/selection to office, and honors earned in organized athletics and extracurricular activities
