Listed below is a brief description of some of the Parents’ Guild activities. Parents will receive volunteer forms at the beginning of the school year – at which time they will be asked to check off the area(s) in which they would be interested in helping. These forms will be given to the chairperson of the event(s) and they will contact parents directly.
Freshman Get-Acquainted Night
A picnic evening for freshmen parents and parents of incoming transfer students to help them learn what is happening at St. Joe’s, meet some of the Faculty and Staff and mingle with the parents of your sons’ classmates.
Open House
Parents assist in greeting prospective students and their parents, hosting the refreshment area, etc. during this display of the best of St. Joe’s.
Back to School Night
A very short Guild meeting precedes a “Parents’ class schedule” in which the parents attend their sons’ classes, meet their teachers and learn about the class work. This is followed by an Octoberfest celebration featuring knockwurst and beverages. (Alumni Parents work this event also.)
Liturgies
Each class is invited to bring their entire family to SJCI for a special celebration of the Liturgy. The Guild hosts a social after Mass.
Magazine Drive
The Parents’ Guild receives 40% of each subscription or renewal of over 600 magazines and tapes. Net proceeds are donated to the school. Help is especially needed during the lunch hours on school days.
Sports Night - Fall Athletic Fundraiser
This annual event in the fall raises significant funds for the special needs of the SJCI athletic department. Food and beverages are served. A raffle and Chinese auction is also held during the evening.
Freshman Registration
Volunteers to assist in the registration process and serve refreshments.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Serve refreshments during Interview nights.
Teacher Recognition
This committee provides the Faculty and Staff with a variety of creative thank-you’s on a monthly basis throughout the school year.
Christmas Dinner Dance
Parents, Faculty and Staff enjoy an evening of fine food and lively music at this annual appreciation dinner.
Mother/Son Social
The committee organizes a very special Dinner Dance for the St. Joe’s moms and their sons – a touching and lively evening.
Mother/Son Liturgy/Breakfast
A very touching celebration of the Mass is followed by refreshments served by the fathers.
Lasallian Dinner & Auction (link to Auction)
An elegant evening of dinner and a variety of auctions.
Father/Son Liturgy
A celebration of the Liturgy for the St. Joe’s fathers and their sons sponsored by the SJCI Alumni.
Grandparents Liturgy/Dinner
A special evening for students and their grandparents. This evening starts with Mass, followed by dinner and a chance to show off the school to their grandparents.
Graduates Liturgy
A special liturgy for seniors and their parents.
Incoming Frosh & Parents Meeting|
This informative and entertaining evening is geared toward the incoming freshmen and their parents. The Guild meeting is followed by the annual Ice Cream Social.
Parent Enrichment Nights
Our efforts to bring parents together to discuss topics relating to teenagers in their high school years. In the past,speakers have presented speeches on topics such as alcoholism, drug abuse and self-esteem. Thought provoking discussions follow.
Post Prom Party
This party is a time for the St. Joe’s senior class to enjoy one last fun time together. It featuresgames, prizes, music, food, and the congeniality of being together.
