NEW DIRECTOR OF HOCKEY & VARSITY FEDERATION HOCKEY COACH NAMED

St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute is pleased to announce that Richard Crozier ’94 has been named Director of Hockey & Varsity Federation Hockey Coach at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. Crozier replaces Peter Schneider, who was recently promoted to Director of Athletics at St. Joe’s.

CrozierCrozier has been part of the Amherst Central School District for 10 years and currently works as a teacher and special education department chairperson. Since 2004, he has served as the program director and head varsity hockey coach for Amherst Central High School. In this role, Crozier oversaw the development of more than 100 student-athletes at the varsity, junior varsity and modified level. He also initiated and directed an annual youth clinic for youngsters in the district in grades 3-8. His hockey coaching experience extends to Amherst Youth Hockey, where he is a travel coach for the Bantam AAA Amherst Knights. Crozier was also a member of the Amherst Youth Hockey Board, where he served as A.C.E. Coaching Education Coordinator.

As a collegiate hockey player, Crozier excelled as a member of the Hobart Statesmen Hockey Team from 1994 – 1998. Voted by the players as Team Captain, he also was awarded “The Holden Award” for sportsmanship, character, and leadership. From 1992-1994, he was a member of the St. Joe’s Varsity Federation Hockey Team, which in 1993 and 1994 were Varsity Federation League and Playoff Champions. In 2005, the 1993 Varsity Federation Hockey Team was inducted into the St. Joe’s Sports Hall of Fame. Crozier received his bachelor’s degree from Hobart College, a master’s degree from Canisius College, and is currently working on his master’s in administration at Canisius College.

St. Joe’s has a strong tradition of excellence within the hockey program and we know that Richard will continue the school’s commitment to develop student-athletes who excel on the ice, in the classroom, and as sportsmen,” states Peter Schneider, Director of Athletics.

The son of Bonnie and Joe Crozier (former Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs head coach), Richard and his wife, Becky, reside in Amherst with their three children: Joe, Jake and Sydney. The school congratulates him on his appointment and wishes him great success in his new role.
