The mission of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute is “To nurture and to educate young men within a Christ-centered community for lives of accomplishment and service in a Catholic Lasallian tradition.” Here at St. Joe’s, we consider the Christian Ministry Project a reflection of our pledge to form young men who recognize that our Catholic faith demands seeking the common good, especially with regard to those who are most vulnerable in society. The Christian Ministry Project is an opportunity to practice the corporal works of mercy: feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, giving drink to the thirsty, visiting the sick, visiting the imprisoned, sheltering the homeless, and burying the dead. For the 2008-2009 school year all Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are expected to complete twenty service hours for their Christian Ministry Project. Project choices are limited to the following: the economically poor, the elderly or infirm (healthcare), the developmentally disabled, and religious education. It is expected that this project be completed through one single agency. |
