Vocal Music ( James Deiotte )

The Vocal Music program allows students to develop their voices through a sequence of courses ranging from introductory Freshmen Singers, through Glee Club and on to Varsity Singers. These are all credit bearing courses that meet during the school day, focusing not only on excellent performance technique, but also on music theory and basic organizational skills. Glee Club and Varsity Singers perform at all liturgies at St. Joe’s, as well as at the school’s Winter and Spring Departmental Concerts. Varsity Singers also visit various parishes in the area to sing at weekend liturgies.

Swing Choir

Many of these same students also audition, along with girls from various area schools, to participate in the Swing Choir. This group rehearses outside of the school day, adding choreography and costume to their performances. The Swing Choir can be seen in a variety of venues ranging from a local Christmas tour, a January “Dessert Show” and in a spring "Goodwill Tour” to other cities.
