BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVES INITIATION OF CONSTRUCTION PHASE
With unanimous support, the St. Joe's Board of Trustees approved the initiation of the construction phase of the school's capital campaign - Pride in our Past . . . Faith in our Future. Work is scheduled to commence in April 2008.
These are indeed exciting times for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute. The school is committed to a number of capital projects to better serve its student body and larger community, and with the support of the Board of Trustees, will commence construction on the new All-Weather Athletic Complex in April 2008. Wendel Duchscherer Architects & Engineers PC will coordinate the architectural needs of the project, while Paul Bieron ’60 will oversee the design and installation of accessories to include bleachers and a scoreboard.
Science, long a hallmark of a Lasallian education, will be recognized via the construction of the Cullen Center for Excellence in Science. Silvestri Architects PC and construction manager, BRD Inc. will lead the way on the construction of this stand-alone facility. While the design phase is still underway, the Center is expected to include a combination of classroom/laboratory units interfaced and equipped with state-of-the-art teaching aids, scientific instrumentation, and computer technology. Construction on the Cullen Center for Excellence in Science is planned to commence in summer 2008, with a scheduled completion date prior to the start of the 2009-2010 academic year.
Residential Space for the Brothers of the Christian Schools remains a top priority to the overall goals of the capital campaign. Currently, options are being explored for providing dignified housing that is suitable to maintain the Brothers' presence as a vital influence on campus.
The organizational and planning phase of the capital campaign for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute began in January 2006 and culminated with a public announcement on May 15, 2007. More than $10.6 million has been raised to date towards the overall campaign goal of $12 million. The campaign will continue through June 2008, so there is still a long way to go to reach our $12 million total campaign goal.
As this construction phase moves forward, St. Joe's will continue to reach out to our alumni and other key supporters to share these exciting new developments and plans for the school. St. Joe’s is dedicated to continuing the tradition of excellence in providing high quality education to young men within a Christ-centered community. These planned capital projects will allow us to better serve the St. Joe's student body and the larger community.
The capital campaign for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute - Pride in our Past . . . Faith in our Future combines four projects in total: the Cullen Center for Excellence in Science; an All-Weather Athletic Complex; Residential Space for the Brothers of the Christian Schools; and additional Endowment to support the financial needs of our students and their families. We encourage you to become part of this exciting campaign and to help us reach our goal.
