28TH ANNUAL PHIL SCAFFIDI ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEDSt. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute is pleased to announce that Mark Emerson ’09 has been named the recipient of the 28th annual Phil Scaffidi Alumni Scholarship for the 2008 – 2009 school year. This award is typically given to an incoming senior who participates in multiple sports exemplifying dedication, determination and desire, as well as to a young
man that has demonstrated himself as a good citizen to the community and to St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute.
Mark Emerson ’09 has been an active participant in the sports program offered by St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, excelling in the areas of Football (current a wide receiver and cornerback) and Wrestling (2008 All-Catholic Champion 130 lbs. and 2008 New York State runner-up). At St. Joe’s, Mark is a member of Student Council, serving as treasurer, as well as participating in the school’s Food Basket Drive, Diversity Club, and Lasallian Youth Group. Additionally, Mark is part of BISSNET’s Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity group, and donates his time to St. Augustine Scholars as part of their after-school program. Mark plans to attend college next year to continue his academic studies, specifically in the area of accounting.
St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute offers congratulations to Mark for the spirit of sportsmanship, athletic competition and good citizenship that he and Phil Scaffidi exemplified.
